I.C.C. Finance Chair Resigns
The I.C.C. stands for De Anza's Inter Club Council. This organization is for maintaining current clubs and also making new ones. It may sound like a boring organization to be apart of, and if one thought that they would be wrong. This council see’s over 50 clubs and counting. They also run their own events that run from the fall dance on Nov. 20th all the way to the spring carnival on May 13th, even karaoke on Jan. 14th April 15th and Oct. 4th. The council contains prior and current student as well as others. All of which are well suited for the job. Becoming an officer is as easy as running for election in the Spring Quarter.
That’s how it started for Diep “Denise” Nguyen, who recently resigned. She was elected to the I.C.C. Finance Chair on Feb. 25. The I.C.C. Finance Chair is the department that sees over ICC financial matters and fund raising activities. It also updates the account and tracks the spending, along with many other responsibilities and meetings. She was elected to this position due to her experience with overseeing a youth group and her organization skills. She is also a Finance major, which made her very qualified for the job. So why did she resign?
When she started, she was looking forward to it. And through out here career, she spoke good things about getting involved and being active. And she was honored to be apart of the school she started with and loved deeply. So with being able to step down in the spring quarter for elections, why did she resign now? It could be due to all the addition responsibilities budget cuts are causing. The strict ways of keeping up with the spending is hard to ignore. After several calls and emails, there was no answer.
